In 2016, EUROfusion – the consortium of EU institutions that coordinates fusion energy research across Europe – commissioned an international panel of world-class experts to review all the fusion education programmes of its member states. The UK was the only programme to be awarded a perfect 10/10, with headline statements: “The panel was specifically impressed by the…Fusion CDT”, and “The Fusion CDT could serve as a role model for those countries where the PhD programme needs improvements.”
Particular strengths identified include:
• Our broad range of thesis projects, including inertial confinement fusion.
• Many collaborative projects across the EU, with “very good” access to fusion facilities.
• “Very good” career development and “excellent” PhD programme structure.
It is gratifying to see the hard work of Fusion CDT staff and students recognised in this way, and we aim to continue to build on our success.
If you would like to be part of our exciting adventure, and contribute to one of the most important challenges facing mankind, consider a PhD with us at the Fusion CDT – see our exciting range of projects on offer for 2017 at http://www.fusion-cdt.ac.uk/study-with-us/projects/
